Summer meal programs share the common belief that providing our youth with healthy and nutritious meals throughout the year feeds their brains and sets them up for academic success.

During the regular school year, families can enroll their children in free or discounted lunch programs.  To continue to provide nutritious and healthy meals to these students throughout the summer months, Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD) and the Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe (BGCNLT) offer free meal programs throughout the week.

The  Both programs are funded by the United States Department of Agriculture.   Kat Soltanmorad, Food Services Director for TTUSD commented, “We are thrilled to be able to provide this outreach service to kids in our community to ensure that they are healthy all year long.”

Both programs offer free breakfast and lunch to any person 18 years old or younger, no matter if they are enrolled in the district/club, or are a part of their programs.

TTUSD’s four-week free summer meal program, “Seamless Summers,” began last year and provided free meals during the Summer Scholars program.   Kids may go as often as they like or need throughout the duration of the program.  The program runs through July 31.

The BGCNLT’s free meal program runs June 22 – August 28.
