Investing in Tahoe Truckee through workforce Scholarships
Workforce scholarships support young adults who are pursuing vital career paths that the Tahoe Truckee region needs. Since 2022, TTCF has helped bring together a growing number of local donors, foundations, and businesses to address the urgent need for certain skilled professionals in our region. Scholarships are awarded in fields such as aviation and STEM Pathways, education, and vocational and trade professions. These opportunities help individuals meet the local cost of living and housing prices, further their potential, and contribute to the enhancement of our regional workforce.
The 2024 Application Process is Open May 15-June 30, notification by August 1. Applicants must intend to enroll for Fall 2024 or Winter/Spring 2025 semesters.

HELPING high school STUDENTS ACHIEVE THEIR DREAMS THROUGH SCHOLARSHIPS
We partner with local scholarship committees to make more than 100 community scholarships available every year! TTCF provides an online platform with a common application. This helps more students attend two year and four year colleges and vocational schools. Since 2017, TTCF donors have grown our own scholarships by nearly 400%! Still, the rising costs of education continue to outpace our available funding.
The 2024 Scholarship Application cycle is now closed and applications are under review. The need has far exceeded our existing funds. Please consider a donation to our community scholarship fund.

Yulisa Mendez, a 2016 scholarship recipient, is pursuing her Master’s Degree in Social Work to help vulnerable populations in our community. The first person in her family to go to college after becoming a mother in high school, Yulisa graduated college one year early with honors. She is presenting her psychology research at universities across California.

Asked about the importance of community scholarships, Alina Rose Sabah said they are the only ‘real’ scholarships as all the rest are just entering a sweepstakes. The scholarship committee chose the perfect recipient to honor the Robert "Fro" Frolich's legacy.

“At first nothing worked, but through years of steady application and many disastrous cakes, I found my niche. I got a job at a local bakery and took all the culinary classes offered at school, did five internships at different restaurants and bakeries and knew that culinary school would be next.” A perfect recipient, Alina received the Robert “Fro” Frolich Scholarship for a student pursuing their dreams. Fro was a beloved community member who lived passionately, his memorial scholarship, not retired, made sure those like Alina can fulfill life-long dreams.

TRENT NORMAN
Trent Norman is working hard to graduate in three years. He plans to use the fourth year to work towards his masters. He says, "I am very honored to be the recipient of this award. In fact, I'm still very much in awe."

Trent Norman received the 2019 Alpine Winter Foundation Scholarship. Attending Cal Poly for a Business degree, he is working hard in school and out of school to graduate with a high GPA and no student loans. When he wrote, he told us, “I am very honored to be the recipient of this award. In fact, I’m still very much in awe.”

Once at University, Leslie Gonzalez maintained the high GPA and community service that earned her the Cameron and Jane Baird Scholarship. She quickly found a place to give back in the Salinas public library. “With lack of time and language barriers, some of these parents aren’t able to help their children in their education,” so Leslie volunteered during her free time to help school children with their classwork. “I was very privileged to have had so much support through different people. Now, I want to ‘pay it forward.’”
