Discretionary Grants

The Foundation has several funding cycles for which you can apply. We encourage you to contact Phebe Bell, Program Officer, if you have questions on individual grant applications or need help with the on-line application process. Email Phebe for more information.

In general, competitive grants are awarded to organizations located in or directly serving the North Lake Tahoe and Truckee region. Grants are reviewed by a volunteer grants committee that makes recommendations to the Foundation’s Board of Directors. TTCF’s Board approves or denies all grants.

Open/Competitive (Discretionary) : This is the grant cycle for any and all organizations seeking funding! Bring us your creative ideas, your requests for general operating funds, or your needs for expanding services. Grants are awarded twice each year in the spring and fall. Deadlines for 2012 are April 2nd and September 28th. All applications for 2012 will occur online, and the process will open for proposals on March 5th for the spring and September 4th for the Fall. Queen of Hearts Women’s Fund: The members of the Queen of Hearts Women’s Fund select grant recipients annually in the fall. The application process starts with a letter of interest. Letters will be due September 20th and will be submitted online. The online process will open for letters beginning September 4th. The Nature Fund: This fund is specifically for nonprofit organizations working on environmental issues and environmental education programs in the region. Grants are awarded annually in the winter. Lahontan Community Foundation: The Lahontan Community Foundation is a Donor Advised Fund at Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation that offers an annual competitive grants cycle in the spring. This year, LCF will award approximately $80,000 to organizations in the field of human services, environment, education, and arts and culture. All applications for 2012 will occur online, and the process will open for proposals on February 6th and proposals will be due by March 2nd. Basic Needs Funding: TTCF set aside grant money to specifically fund basic human services organizations that help those in need in the region. If your organization provides core safety net services of housing, food, violence prevention, etc., please contact Phebe Bell, TTCF Program Officer, to learn more about this funding stream.
