Board Governance Series attracts local leaders intent on creating change

Last month, TTCF hosted the Board Governance Series to help local leaders strengthen their skills. Over four workshops, the series covered best practices of board governance including fundraising, strategic planning, fiscal responsibility, and board culture. The excitement was palpable as leaders leaned into the opportunity to learn and network.

$104,000 awarded in youth scholarships in 2016!!

The 2016 scholarship season in the TTCF offices was wildly successful! Our scholarship committee was able to award $31,000 more than last year for a total of $104,000 in scholarships to our young people. They say it takes a village, and you are doing an excellent job, North Tahoe – Truckee, raising these kids to be bright, resilient, and community-minded adults!

Often we think about scholarships as an opportunity to help a young person attain their own dreams of higher education. While this is true, scholarships are also our opportunity as a community to send some of our brightest representatives out to the world. Youth Realities Require More than Hard Work, They Require Scholarships

The young people of our region are fortunate to grow up in beautiful surroundings, this is true. But many of our kids are living realities much deeper and rawer than some adults may imagine. Poverty, bullying and peer-pressure are just some of the obstacles they face. Still, their determination is incredible. Scholarships help us help them rise above circumstances to achieve their dreams.

Truckee Youth Pays it Forward

A letter recently circulated its way around the offices of Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF). It was a letter of gratitude, grace, and generosity. The last lines extended an offer to help TTCF in any way possible. It also offered to help the donors of the Cameron and Jane Baird Scholarship Fund. It was signed by the 2014 recipient of that scholarship.

Robert “Fro” Frohlich Memorial Scholarship Gives Flight to Dreams

The Robert “Fro” Frohlich Memorial Scholarship was established to help students pursue their dreams. We interviewed last year’s recipient and were enamored by her grace, her passion and her drive. Alina Rose Sabah of North Tahoe overflowed with gratitude and humility for the opportunity to pursue her dream, and we feel the same way about being able to help her do so.
