Complementing the unique nature of our various donors and programs, the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation establishes many distinct, but interconnected relationships in its quest to positively impact the North Tahoe-Truckee region. Every day we work with people near and far in pursuing our common goals. Recently, our partners from the S.H. Cowell Foundation visited for a lively bus tour that spanned in one day the breadth of the impact their investments have made in fifteen years. Needless to say, it was a trip worth writing home about.
The S.H. Cowell Foundation prides itself in being a proactive funder with program officers who genuinely invest themselves in their projects and work closely with local organizations. Based in San Francisco, the Cowell Foundation improves the lives of impoverished Northern and Central Californian families by uniting people across all sectors in shaping strong, sustainable communities. Since 1999, their vast investment in our region has included large grants and comprehensive support for the Family Resource Center of Kings Beach, the Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe and the planning and purchase of the new Kings Beach Community House. All along the way, the Cowell Foundation has maintained TTCF as a valuable local liaison, and relied upon our eyes, ears, and ground support.
As their relationship evolved with TTCF, the Cowell Foundation expanded its reach from specifically Kings Beach to the entire Tahoe Truckee Region; since 2010 our collaborations have funded and supported ARC, TTUSD, Kid Zone Museum, Excellence in Education, the Community Collaborative, and the Family Resource Center of Truckee among innumerable other nonprofits. TTCF’s ultimate priority is cultivating sustainable resources and leadership to support the community long into the future. Part of this aligned vision resulted in the largest grant ever made by the Cowell Foundation to TTCF to ensure that North Tahoe families are strengthened through the work of the Community Collaborative of Tahoe Truckee and other TTCF initiatives.
For over a decade, our foundations have symbiotically relied upon one another to create enduring change in our community. For that we are humbly and forever grateful. Every donor and organization offers a unique opportunity to learn as individuals, to grow as a community foundation, and to evolve integral relationships to benefit our region. It is through aligning ourselves with likeminded organizations and individuals that TTCF increases its impact every year while ensuring that we will have a long, self-sustainable future here in North Tahoe-Truckee.
