Karen Carey, Executive Director of Tahoe SAFE Alliance
Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation wanted to spend more time with you in our amazing community, so we posted up a booth every Truckee Thursday to do just that over the summer. People from our region, our state, our country, and the world stopped in to learn more about TTCF and to pin their hometown on our map. Visitors and residents alike also had the opportunity to enter our raffle to donate $1000 to the local nonprofit of their choice. The enthusiasm to give back was inspiring, and we are grateful to all of you for participating as well as to all of the donors for making the raffle possible.
Nancy Amundsen was our lucky winner and was thrilled to award the $1000 grant to Tahoe SAFE Alliance. Tahoe SAFE Alliance provides direct services to victims of intimate partner/domestic violence, sexual violence, and child abuse, with the mission to end the incidence and trauma of abuse. Nancy wrote,
“I chose Tahoe SAFE Alliance because of their selfless and dedicated service to men, women and children of our community. As an Emergency Room nurse I have personally interacted with them on multiple occasions.I have never ceased to be amazed at their commitment and willingness to respond any hour, any day in any circumstance to assist those in need.”
