Over the last 15 years, Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation and our donors have distributed more than $200,000 to Project MANA. As part of TTCF’s 15 year celebration, Project MANA will receive a gift in honor of a TTCF Fund, Lahontan Community Foundation.
Project MANA is working to break the cycle of hunger to build a healthier, hunger-free community. Since 1991 they have provided immediate relief to individuals, families, the local community and the region experiencing hunger or are at high-risk of hunger through emergency food programs.
While working with individuals and families to alleviate the root causes of their hunger, Project MANA mobilizes human and other community resources to advocate for the low-income population, and educating the community about hunger issues.

Millions of people across America are considered to be food insecure and North Lake Tahoe and Truckee are no exception. Food insecurity is defined as limited or uncertain access to adequate food and it can come in many forms. Lay-offs, illness or just bad luck can put anyone into this category. Project MANA holds Emergency Food Distributions in four locations in North Lake Tahoe and Truckee. At these distributions, community members experiencing hunger or are at-risk of experiencing hunger are provided with an array of fresh produce, non-perishable goods, rescued bread, dairy products and other nutritious foods to help alleviate their hunger.
