The Tahoe Truckee Homeless Advisory Committee has reached a milestone and has completed the Tahoe Truckee Regional Homeless Action Plan. The Plan’s priorities are based on key beliefs: Regional collaboration is critical, compassion is central, housing solves homelessness, and doing nothing creates significant economic impacts. The plan aims to address these challenges through collaboration and funding from the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation to create lasting, positive change. The Committee comprises twelve partners representing the regional jurisdictions, several special districts, and nonprofits. Together, they developed the Action Plan over 18 months.
Housing solves homelessness, and we have championed the region’s first permanent supportive housing as an achievable solution. Permanent supportive housing combines affordable housing with supportive services to help people experiencing homelessness maintain stable living environments. Housing and support are key components of the Tahoe Truckee Regional Homeless Action Plan, which outlines a five-year roadmap to end homelessness. Drawing on data, insights from those with lived experience, and community feedback, the plan emphasizes progress—no matter how incremental. It also calls for collective action from local governments, organizations, businesses, and individuals to provide support.
