The Martis Camp Foundation (MCF) was created in 2010 to provide financial assistance to deserving nonprofits and youths in the Tahoe Truckee Unified School District. The MCF’s focus is on education, youth development, human services and recreation. The foundation is 100% member supported. To date, it has granted over $3.7 million to the community.
AMBITION SCHOLARSHIP
- Five $5,000 scholarships, which may be renewed for up to four years.
- Based on merit and need.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Applicants must be a full-time high school senior in an accredited school in the TTUSD, plan on attending an accredited college or university in the fall of the year the scholarship is awarded, provide two letters of recommendation, tax returns, if requested, and an essay.
- The scholarship is to provide assistance to a student who demonstrates a real desire and ability to make something of themselves.
- The essay should describe how the student plans to achieve this goal.
- The recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the term for which the scholarship is paid.
- Successful applicants may be asked to participate in an interview.
- Total scholarship dollars awarded: up to $20,000
CHANGEMAKER SCHOLARSHIP
- One scholarship award ranging from a total of $30,000 up to $60,000 depending on college choice and financial need, payable in equal installments over 4 years.
- Based on merit and need.
- Minimum GPA of 3.6.
- Applicant must be a full-time high school senior in an accredited school in the TTUSD, plan on attending an accredited college or university in the fall of the year the scholarship is awarded, provide two letters of recommendation, tax returns, if requested, and an essay.
- Applicants should want to make a difference in the world and must demonstrate leadership, community involvement, volunteering or community service, and employment. The 500-word essay should highlight these leadership qualities and activities and describe how the student plans to utilize them to make a difference.
- Recipient must maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the terms for which the scholarship is paid.
- Successful applicants may be asked to participate in an interview.
COMMITTED SCHOLARSHIP
- One scholarship award ranging from a total of $30,000 up to $60,000 depending on college choice and financial need, payable in equal installments over 4 years.
- Applicants must be a full-time high school senior in an accredited school in the TTUSD who plans on attending an accredited college or university in the fall of the year the scholarship is awarded.
- Applicants should have a desire to return to the Truckee-Tahoe area to give back to the community.
- Based on merit and need
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Two letters of recommendation; tax returns, if requested; and an essay about a need you see in our community that you would like to address when you have finished your education.
DENISE MARTINEZ SCHOLARSHIPS
- Two $20,000 scholarships payable in $5,000 annual increments for up to four years
- The scholarship is to honor the legacy of Denise Martinez, a respected golf professional and an extraordinary woman who exemplified hard work, fair play, kindness, and integrity.
- Minimum GPA of 3.0
- Recipients must maintain a 3.0 GPA throughout the terms for which the scholarship is paid.
- Successful applicants may be asked to participate in an interview.
- Applicants must embody the ideals and qualities of Denise Martinez: hard work, fair play, kindness and integrity.
- Applicant’s family household income will be considered, and tax returns must be provided upon request.
- Preference may be given to students who are employees or caddies of Martis Camp, or whose parents are employees of Martis Camp.
- Preference may also be given to students who play golf on a team or as a pastime.
- Preference will be considered after merit and need are assessed and weighed against the other applicants
