The Steve Shippy Memorial Scholarship is a Workforce Scholarship for young adults pursuing vocational career paths.
Steve Shippy was well respected in the construction field by his peers, due to his dedication, professionalism, and hard work ethic! He was an exceptionally skilled heavy equipment operator. Folks would stand back in amazement at some of the jobs he pulled off. He knew his limits on any machine, and he knew any machine’s limits. We called it Heavy Equipment Acrobatics.
Through his years on the job, he became very adaptable to any job situation. Steve became a leader at a very young age due to his work ethic and integrity. Above all Steve loved God, his family and cared deeply for the workers under his leadership. His generosity, kindness and loyalty were common threads in the way he lived his life. The Peek Family Charitable Foundation would like to help individuals who embody the spirit of Steve Shippy to pursue a career in the trades.
Requirements: For community members wishing to pursue career tech or vocational programs at accredited trade schools only.
Amount: $20,000 is available for awards of at least $5000 each if suitable candidates are found each year.
