$50,000 Grant Cycle Opens September 7, 2015

The Queen of Hearts Women’s Fund will be accepting Letters of Interest (LOI) from September 7 through September 24, 2015, at 5:00pm. $50,000 is available to grant to local nonprofit organizations and programs that serve the North Tahoe-Truckee region across any and all areas of impact.

Coming up on its ten year anniversary, the Queen of Hearts Women’s Fund began with the goal to mobilize 1,000 women to donate $1,000 each to create what is now a $1.5 million philanthropic endowment fund. Queen of Hearts members believe their power to impact our community is greater when they leverage their efforts together. One of the ways they create change is through an annual competitive grants cycle. The grant cycle awards four $10,000 grants with four runner-ups receiving $2,500 each.

Applicants are asked to submit an online LOI describing the impact that their organization can make with a $10,000 grant. A volunteer committee reviews the LOIs and selects organizations to submit full applications. From this group of applicants, the committee then chooses two organizations per impact area as finalists. The eight finalists present their organization’s mission and their grant proposal at the intimate GEMS (Grant Educate Motivate Serve) Annual Grants Showcase at Cedar House Sport Hotel on December 3, 2015. After that, the entire Queen of Hearts membership has ten days to vote for their favorites by online ballot.

The Queen of Hearts Women’s Fund makes one $10,000 grant in each of the following areas:
• Arts, Culture and Public Benefit
• Education and Youth Development
• Environment, Recreation and Animal Welfare
• Health and Human Services
