Over the last 15 years, TTCF and our donors have distributed close to $300,000 to SSS. In addition, a gift in honor of our founders, William Hewlett and Jim Porter, has been given in celebration of TTCF’s 15 Year Anniversary.
Since 2001 Sierra Senior Services (SSS) has worked to feed and support seniors in the Truckee and Lake Tahoe Communities. SSS’s goal is for all seniors in the community to have access to nutritious meals, social opportunities and health and wellness programs.
Every individual deserves the opportunity to have their basic nutritional needs met. The SSS senior nutrition program offers seniors age 60 and over the opportunity to have one nutritionally balanced meal daily. They are often the only human contact a homebound senior will have, providing a safety net for the frailest members of the community. SSS has been able to continue to meet the increased demand in requests for services, 60% over the last 5 years. They are the provider that people turn to when seniors need resources or referrals.
