California Needs You!

Could a Forestry Career be Right for You?

To combat California’s wildfire crisis, we need to grow our forest workforce. To help, the California Forest Foundation, the California Forestry Association and the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation have joined forces to promote forest and fire-related careers. The new initiative puts potential employees in touch with community colleges, nonprofit agencies and trade organizations that offer training programs, certification, internships, fellowships, and degrees for jobs ranging from certified foresters, environmental scientists, and equipment technicians to community educators and hand crews.

This initiative is currently featured at the California State Fair through the Forest Futures: Careers Among the Trees exhibit which highlights a wide range of career opportunities in forest management and fire mitigation.

There’s so much work to be done, but we don’t have enough people to do the work. Our goal is to build awareness of career pathways, and educate people about the wide range of employment opportunities available in forest management and fire mitigation for people of all ages and backgrounds. We felt the state fair was the perfect place to launch this initiative, and invite people to consider these important, meaningful careers.
