In 2023, the Hamilton Family, with the support of family, friends and in partnership with the Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation, established the Jeff Hamilton Legacy Fund to honor the commitment, imagination, and fearlessness with which Jeff lived his life.
The resulting ‘Juniper Awards’ recognize deserving individuals for their commitment, imagination, and fearlessness in six categories: art, music and writing, winter olympics, medical care, trades, and community impact. These monetary gifts will alleviate financial limitations and enable recipients to engage boldly on their paths.
A Juniper tree that grows fearlessly out of granite is able to do so because of its strong roots. Investing in individuals – the roots of our Truckee-Tahoe community – helps them pursue what they love, reinforcing our collective resilience and beauty.
On November 22, 2023, Jeff Hamilton’s birthday, the inaugural year recipients were announced and they include:
- Art: Sara Mohagen
- Music and writing: Elia Schreiber
- Winter olympics: Bryce Bennett
- Winter olympics: Cody LaPlante
- Winter olympics: Hahna Norman
- Winter olympics: JC Schoonmaker
- Medical care: Julie Morgan
- Trades: Joshua Mendoza
- Community impact: Kathlee Martin
Congratulations to these recipients!
