Every year, Give Back Tahoe Giving Season brings together neighbors, nonprofits, and supporters who care deeply about the Tahoe-Truckee region. Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF) facilitates this year-end campaign to raise funds and awareness for regional nonprofits and to demonstrate the power of collective giving and collective action.
This year, we saw record-breaking donations!
- 82 local nonprofits received gifts
- 150 volunteer hours
- $329,465 in matching grants
- $1,219,442 donated
We continue to be amazed and grateful for the generosity of our community. Thank you to all who played your part. We want to encourage everyone to use Give Back Tahoe, all year round to learn more about the amazing nonprofit missions that serve our region and to get involved through the volunteer opportunities! – Stacy Caldwell, CEO, Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation
Behind the Scenes of a Record-Breaking Year
Since 2014, the annual Give Back Tahoe Giving Season has raised more than $6 million for local nonprofits. It launches on #GivingTuesday, the International Day of Giving, and runs through December 31st. This extended timeline makes it possible to reach frequent visitors and part-time homeowners who may not automatically think to include Tahoe-Truckee in their year-end giving.
This year, we saw greater sophistication from nonprofits, donors, and partners in using Give Back Tahoe as a platform for amplification and to further increase donations. In a year that has proven particularly challenging to nonprofits, TTCF used the Give Back Tahoe registration process, focus groups, and nonprofit conversations to identify urgent regional priorities. We then worked alongside our fundholders and nonprofit partners to fund matching grants for projects and programs that are both timely and of high community priority.

A Year-Long Resource for Nonprofits and the Community
Throughout the year, givebacktahoe.org serves as a community hub for local giving and engagement. The platform is open to any vetted nonprofit serving the North Tahoe-Truckee region and currently features 120+ organizations working across a wide range of causes. This offers community members a single place to learn about organizations serving the region and explore meaningful ways to get involved. In addition to making donations, individuals can browse posted volunteer opportunities and connect directly with nonprofits to volunteer their time and support community efforts.
One Part of TTCF’s System of Nonprofit Supports
TTCF facilitates Give Back Tahoe at no cost to participating organizations. In addition to the platform and a comprehensive marketing campaign, TTCF also develops and provides video education, a nonprofit toolkit, and one-on-one strategic guidance. Nonprofits can then apply what they learn to their annual fundraising strategies.
Give Back Tahoe Giving Season is one of the myriad ways that TTCF strengthens and supports our local nonprofits. That work includes leadership development, hosting collaborative mechanisms and developing strategies, roadmaps, and initiatives that create systemic change.
