Remembering Marcy Olson

The Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation is proud to honor the memory of Marcy Olson, who passed away suddenly last year and would have been 57 years old today. We are so appreciative that the friends and family of Marcy have channeled their grief and love in such a meaningful way by opening a memorial fund in her honor. We’re humbled to play a part in bringing to fruition their vision of supporting and uplifting young women in finance. This scholarship and it’s many recipients will continue to honor the wonderful imprint Marcy left on her entire community. And now, a message from her colleague in honor of her birthday.

MARCY OLSON: FRIEND, COLLEAGUE, AND TRAILBLAZER FOR WOMEN IN FINANCE

Today is a bittersweet day for the Resolute Capital family – it is the birthday of our dear friend and colleague, Marcy Olson, who passed away suddenly last year. She would have been 57 years old.

In 2005, I had the privilege to begin working with Marcy. Along with her diligence and dedication to her career, she brought a youthful abundance and an inclusive integrity to everyone that she met and worked with.

Marcy was a true trailblazer for women in the financial arena, especially at the executive level. She was a passionate and intelligent leader who was, not only exceptionally talented in her ability to create prosperity for so many others, but was also brilliant in her capacity to navigate a challenging industry with grace and poise. As a talented artist, avid skier and biker, and loving mother, she also set a standard for work/life balance for all of us here at Resolute.

It is these principles which inspired us to create the Marcy Olson Memorial Fund. The Fund’s goal is to support women seeking careers and leadership positions throughout the financial industry by providing resources and opportunities in the form of mentorships, leadership trainings, networking, and a multi-year scholarship for women pursuing a degree in economics, finance or business.

Since inception, the Fund has raised nearly $30,000, and we were able to award our first Marcy Olson Memorial Scholarship to a young woman who, as an artist, athlete, and dedicated student, truly embodies all of the qualities that Marcy exemplified throughout her life.
