The Community Collaborative of Tahoe Truckee (CCTT), a program of Tahoe Truckee Community Foundation (TTCF), has released updated Report Cards highlighting regional economic well-being, health, and education trends. Measuring community indicators, the Report Cards provide real-time data that makes it possible for local agencies to plan and review strategies to create positive change.
The Report Card’s earliest version was released in 2007, and we can now measure its impact over time. So what has been discovered?
Education matters to North Tahoe-Truckee. Overall, our students have out-performed students from other districts in California and our graduation rate is higher. However, English Language Learners and socio-economically disadvantaged students lag behind.
Tahoe Truckee Unified School District (TTUSD), CCTT, and community-based organizations have targeted resources to closing this achievement gap.
Tahoe Truckee Reads, TTUSD Family Liasons, TTUSD summer academic programs, and programs like Aim High, Adventure Risk Challenge, and Boys and Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe support our students through language-learning, family support, and summer programs. The community has continuously voted in favor of bond and parcel taxes which, alongside support from partners like Excellence in Education, TTCF, First 5, and the S.H. Cowell Foundation, has countered shortfalls in state and federal funding. This funding improves antiquated facilities, funds modern classroom needs, and supports college prep classes.
Snapshot of our educational achievements:
- 4,152 TTUSD students enrolled in 2016/17
- 220 students participated in Summer Scholars in 2015/16, up from 96 students in 2013/14.
- 363 students enrolled in Advanced Placement courses in 2014/15
- 93% graduation rate, compared to 81% of CA students in 2014/15
- 91% graduation rate of Hispanic students in 2014/15, up from 71% in 2012
